This letter head is an engineer's drawing of the elevations and miles between Garrison, MT and the Yellowstone River. Included on the drawing are Helena, Gallatin and Bozeman, MT as well as the Bozeman Tunnel, Mullan Tunnel and the Missouri River. It reads:

"Northern Pacific Railroad Rocky Mountain Division. J. T. Dodge, Division Engineer Engineer's Office, Helena, M.T."

In small letters under the diagram it reads, "St. Paul B & S Co." The elevations in the Main Range of the Rocky Mountains and the Belt Range are shown as being between 3800 and 5700 feet.

Dated Dec 6th 1882. The letter reads:
"E. W. Knight Esq
Cashier First National Bank Helena
Dear Sir,
Will you be so kind as to ascertain for me the commercial standing of Hatch & Kendall Bankers & Brokers, 31 Wall St N.Y.

Also of Fisk & Hatch, Bankers 5 Nassau St, whom I have supposed to be first class.
Yours Truly,
J. T. Dodge"
