This Bill of Lading is from:
"Chicago and North-Western Railway
Contracting Freight Office, Southwest cor. La Salle and Randolph Sts.
H. C. Wicker, General Freight Agent, Chicago.
L. F. Booth, General Eastern Agent. 415 Broadway, New York.
Chas. H. Wise, Freight Agent, 5 State Street, Boston.
H. Warfield, Contracting Agent"

Dated April 8th 1875. The goods transported include dry goods, mirrors, trunks, carpet and a mattress [?], totaling 9580 pounds. The shipment is from "Field Lester & Co." to be sent to "Mo.[Missouri?] Valley' and delivered to "S. C & P RR." for further transport to "J. H. McKnight & Co. Fort Shaw M. T." The Company guarantees that the freight charges to Sioux City, IA will not exceed 40 cents per 1000 pounds shipped. The Company also declares it is not responsible for breakage and damage in language similar to that quoted for the Bill of Lading from Kansas City, with the addition of "damage due to delays of any cause, or change of weather...fire...or for loss or damage on the Lakes or Rivers...." Also noted is "All packages subject to charge for Cooperage [a cooper is a barrel maker], if necessary."
